Display case

Alexander

I decided to put this blue & white display case in the place of the tiled stove I made (it was too small in size for this roombox and looked bulky & aquart...).

I liked the stove myself, but I have a feeling if there is something about it that you feel doesn't quite fit in with the precise period or look you are going for, then it will bother you until the "right" piece comes along.

The cabinet is also an eye-catcher, as are the silver pieces on top. Did they use extra-large serving trays in the Biedermeier days?

I believe they were (for fish, meat etc). Generally speaking silver trays, tea sets etc were items of luxury for the middle classes and therefore for display and not every day use like china & pottery. In this cabinet I like also the color combination and decoration (reminds me Sweden/Scandinavian interiors). The stove looked quite bulky and small for this size of roombox. It was made also out of paper and I knew it...(In due course I want to find a wooden-painted one or something similar...)

Alexander, I knew the stove was made out of paper, but only because you said so. Otherwise, I would have thought it was a tile or porcelain piece that cost plenty. I still like the stove, but if something doesn't feel right to you, I know what it is like to have to change it.

I too like the colors of the cabinet, especially since the white looks like an off-white that looks like a light yellow in the picture. Light blue and yellow is my favorite color combination. - Okay, you sold me on the cabinet. It gets my vote.
