Herringbone marquetry - detail

otterine

I've been stalling on the parlor floor since I wasn't sure about what type of marquetry border to add between the plain wood border and the herringbone center. I sent Lyssa some of my ideas for her opinion, and she suggested I take the one I liked best, print out paper copies from the internet and put it on my existing paper mockup before ordering. Brilliant! I should have thought of that! I opted for this 1/4in wide border that has its own herringbone pattern. I think it's unique and does a wonderful job of reflecting both the plain border and the center pattern. I think it adds just the right amount of detail. I love it! Now I just have to wait for the supplies to arrive. :\
