More siding and shingles

dooder85

I've decided to ignore the window frames until the weekend when I have some time to play around with the two possible solutions, and figuring I may as well have the same issue on all my frames I went ahead and added some more siding. However I then tired of it (the answer to my previous question of how long is siding new and exciting.. about 1/3 of the way through) and went back to my shingles which are still my pride and joy. I added a liberal coat of pecan stain to even out the tones and figured the orange/yellow tone to the stain would neutralize the blue tints that had found their way on to the shingles. I started in the corners and worked my way out towards the centre. In the picture there's still a bit of gloss from the wet stain but it soaks right in and dries flat.

I also added framing around the upstairs centre window, I will fill the frame with scalloped clay shingles and use the same on the bay window, then paint them to match the wooden clapboard. Should just add a bit of interest to the house without being garish.

It is looking fantabulous!!! Mmmmm, thinking about a project that might just call for paper clay shingles...
