Fireplace Work

Chris P.

The 'stones' are glued onto the fireplace; now they need to have their outside edges trimmed and to be painted. The fireplace is just propped in there so I can pop it back out to paint. First, I need to experiment with colors for the stonework.

Thank you Mary, Veeeve, and Alexander. I just hope I don't ruin it when I paint it. I'm going to try out some limestone effects and some sandstone effects to see what would look best. I was originally thinking limestone, as that is the predominant rock in our area, but I think the warm colors of sandstone may look better on this fireplace and house. My weekend project will be trying out painting different stone surfaces.

Alexander, that is a tiny faux gold and crystal piano that was part of my mother-in-law's miniature piano collection. Glenna died of a head injury this past June and I really miss her. She would have loved helping build this house for her great granddaughters, so I put one of her tiny pianos in here in her honor. I chose this one because it was the right size and thought the fairies would be attracted to the crystal. I think I need to post a pic of the miniature piano, too.
