trying to decide on a the roof, I thought it would be gray shingles but now dont thinks so. maybe reddish brown shingles or clay tiles, just not sure

I would choose clay tiles....( perhaps a slate roof in a nice dark grey), shingles would look to common especially when you would stain them.

This "Grand Lady" should have a proper roof.... if I may say so... :yes:
