Troubleshooting the electrical

Ellen1980

Having tackled the floor plan, the next challenge was figuring out why the lights weren't working. It took about eight fuses, but I did finally discover that the decorative metal plug covers I had received and installed 15 years ago were causing a short. I lost this outlet because I thought I could gently pull the cord up through the walls, but was wrong.

Right now would be the ideal time to switch over to LED lights, but I have a vision of putting the dollhouse on a timer so that it lights up automatically at night. Plus, through my search for vintage building supplies I managed to acquire 20-30 new-to-me 12v lamps, chandeliers and sconces, and it seems like a waste of money not to use them.

Fyi, you could do some circuit to automatically switch leds on at night (when in low light or with a timer) but I"m not sure how easy ready-to-install circuits are to find and it would need a bit of coding to do it yourself. But I agree, if you have almost-new 12v lamps, better use them ! It will also keep the "vintage" look 😄
