Aluminum corner brace for the win
My dad kept insisting I wouldn't need to add an aluminum corner brace to the roof peak, but it's been invaluable while working out how to add rooms and the tower room extension. In this photo you also see that I changed the tower room extension design and I have member Madtex1967 to thank for that. Lowering the hallway a bit made a big difference in keeping the look of the original tower design intact. I added some windows to the attic and I cannot stress enough how much having the right tool helps. Buying a 2" drill bit to make the hole wasn't cheap, but it took less than a minute for both once I'd carefully marked the spots. It took me longer to cut the hole in the sheet of shingles (I scraped off the shingles so that they wouldn't splinter all over when we used the drill.
