front with no grout compared to side with grout

WestPaces

Bit of a disaster with the grouting, not the effect I was hoping for...

That looks awesome. I personally like the grout.

The brick color looks exactly like the new houses they are building around here.

I certainly don't want it to look 'new' Tracy. I prefer grout and that chalky look but it's a little too much? What to do (wrings hands)

I love it! I think the grout looks great. If it’s too white for you once it’s dry you can do a quick light color wash to grey it up a little. I’d use a sponge technique to apply the wash and blot off the excess. You can make a test piece to try it on if you’re nervous.

You can always add more color to the brick later too.

But this looks lovely. I love a bricked BH and would like to do one, but all those bricks!!! Congratulations! Keep up the good work!

Oh Janet, I wasn't meaning it looked new, I was commenting on how great the color turned out. Looks very realistic. Sorry!

Deborah's suggestion of a grey wash is a good one... that should help dirty them up some. But do put some on a test board and test it!

Thank you! I am going to try that.

:D

I'll try the wash and some detailing on the bricks that lost a layer with all the wiping and manhandling :/

Oi.. grouting can be very destructive.. I feel your pain.. but having said that... I think this looks awesome! I love everything about it.. even the white grout.. it's a nice contrast. But like others have said, try a wash over the grout if it's too bright for you. If you get it on the bricks it won't matter.. It will just age them a bit too. :D

Oh, and well done you on all those bricks!!!
