Yes, something like that, not so sure about the rams head but, I am an Aries so I guess it would be fitting.

My staircase sticks out a bit far already, my only fear is these will extend it too far, I will need to figure this out. one solution would be to have a hollow sleeve that my railing fits into and then the newel post can slide back onto the railing.

Gorgeous design! I think something like this could be replicated using jewellery bits, the hardest part would be finding a close enough head ram but other designs could work as well...
