Cabinets, a little worse for weather!

Myangela

It has been raining for-ever down here in Texas, in case you hadn't heard!  Everything is wet, wet, wet!  We've always been known for our humidity, but this is ridiculous!  It is starting to warp my mat board cabinet doors!

No flooding in our immediate area, just yet, but they had to call the authorities a couple of days ago because there was a 12-1/2 foot alligator "chasing" some joggers, right here by my home!  Thank goodness I don't jog, right!  He evidently came out looking for some dry land when his bayou flooded and washed him down stream from the Addicks Reservoir.

I don't really see the warping, but hopefully it will all go back in place when it dries out. What did you use to make the trim for the arched window?

I made it out of thin strips of mat board, and a lot of glue!

Absolutely fabulous! The countertop fits very nicely.

I think Mikeuk uses a gray board which is suppose to not warp. I can't find it though.

I think just about anything will warp down here right now.  We just had to replace part of our board fence in our backyard last week, between storms.  My husband said he would't be surprised if the new cedar pickets started sprouting!

I have't faux painted the countertops yet.  Once I get all the countertops made, I'll faux paint them all at the same time.

Your kitchen is spectacular, you have gone to a lot of work to achieve this high standard. Keep your eyes peeled for that gator when you do go out!

Thanks, Debora.  And, I will!

I'm in awe of your kitchen!  Well flooding, Texas and the Addicks Reservoir means you live very close to me.  My subdivision has been very lucky although Friday was the first time since I moved here in 2007 that the water went over the curb ... and I have no idea what I'd do if I saw a gator!

I don't use gray board but I do use Mount Card........in the USA it's called Mat Board......generally white on one side and coloured on the other......there are a variety of grades and I always use the 'Museum Quality' grade........If it lasts in a museum then it will outlast me!
