carlie67 5 Posted April 20, 2016 Darn Mish, so sorry it's turned so frustrating will the walls. I was thinking it's almost easier (but more expensive yes) to just buy the kit and create as you build. But I can see the fun challenge it would be also, to do it this way. Hopefully tomorrow, with a fresh pair of eyes, you can see where you need to go for painting. It's not impossible, just really time consuming and patience lol! You can do this! It'll make for a great story later and everyone will appreciate the beauty of it so much more! Loves! 1 Quote Link to comment
MLI Designs 572 Posted April 20, 2016 @carlie67 yeah, working with a new kit is much easier. This has me frustrated. I want to change things but don't want to disturb the integrity of the exterior so I limits what I can do. the house itself is quality but it's 30 years old and there is absolutely no detail on the interior. I'll get past it 1 Quote Link to comment

minikelli 309 Posted April 21, 2016 Have you considered trying wallpaper liner? It helps to smooth out the surface, and if you want painted walls you can just paint the liner and still have it look like a painted wall, but smooth. You can typically get a roll pretty cheap and use it in multiple builds as needed... 2 Quote Link to comment
MLI Designs 572 Posted April 21, 2016 @mikeuk @minikelli I decided to pick at a piece on the lower level. Yeah, it looks like there were several sheets of wallpaper. The one thing I Managed to do was pull out the door without damaging anything. So I'm going to swap out door. Happy about that. So I think I'm going to pick up mat board later today. @mikeuk how do you secure that to the wall? 1 Quote Link to comment
jbnmini 2,062 Posted April 21, 2016 I feel your pain! Rehabs can be very challenging- trying to correct mistakes from past owners. ugh. Walking away is always a good move. If this was my project, I think at this point I would be mad and just get out the 'big guns': vinegar & water, water and fabric softener, the heat gun and a hand sander - ANYTHING to get all that stuff off and back down to the bare wood again! I kinda had to do that with my current project...kept trying to work with what was there to try and fix it - - finally said the heck with it and removed the roof and gutted the interior and started over! Anyway- good luck- and we'll look forward to seeing how you chose to resolve this issue! 1 Quote Link to comment
