Glue on walls

MLI Designs

I think it looks much more roomier open like this. My concern is the paint. Didn't think about it until I started cutting and wood and paint dust was flying all over. I went and grabbed my mask. But t my big concern now is since this house is 30+ years old, could this be lead paint? And if it is, how can I make the walls nicer.

If there is a possibility of lead I can't sand the paint.

she stuck all her paper art with different kinds of glue. I am also stuck with the bottom of linoleum on the second left room floor. How do I get all that gup up?

not sure what to do now. I really want to smooth out those walls

any advice would be greatly appreciated

Couldn't agree more.........most of my internal walls are mat board.........It has so many advantages.....decoration, wiring etc!

they have lead paint test kits you can buy at home depot, lowes, ace hardware and menards...if it turns pink...it's lead but I like Angelas idea of using mat board..it's easy and  you don't have to sand anything.

good luck with the rehab "addict"  ( I just love that show)

@mikeuk when you say Matboard, you don't mean the rather thin boarding for matting a piece of artwork? Do you?

I'd like to make an interior room divider with French doors. That would make it rather easy.

If I'm making a room divider or false wall I make a structure very similar to the frame and plaster board wall in RL houses.............Size and cut one side in mat board (we call it mount board and it's mainly used in picture framing) I the make the frame by glueing on something like 6 x 6 mm basswood strip followed by the opposite sized and cut piece of mat board. You end up with a light yet surprisingly rigid wall. Mat board is a very smooth and stable material which takes paint well (I always use a standard household mat vinyl paint..........I use a very similar process when making furniture as in the bar furniture in my current build.

Hope that helps!

@mikeuk thank you. I think I und Rostand what you are saying. Maybe I'll try that.

i tried making a card stock piece of furniture. That didn't work out too well for me. I'll give the mat board a try. Thanks for the heads up.
