Faux stone block work progress

Debora59

I ordered some trim pieces that I am adding on top of the mat board window frames. I am not as good as Mike at cutting mat board but maybe I will get there, so don't look too close at my test pieces, the wood trim I ordered will even any imperfections out.

I am adding glass and grids to the outside of each window since the ledge is already around the window, it was much more difficult  involved doing this from the interior. The glass reflects and takes away from the curved topline of the windows. So I feel I must build that piece for each window and sandwich in the glass and grids. I may even be able to cut the piece out of mat board.
Still figuring it out the details, but working on custom a window design and continuing with the exterior blockwork.

Direction I am headed in

Thank you ladies, I feel like I finally may have cracked the code on this house, I tried other treatments when I first brought the structure home. I guess it needed to set and wait for me to become more skillful?

I expect your 1/6th scale house really helped you get ideas for this one, because they both are like English country mansions.

It's looking great. You have the nicest houses, and they look like so much fun to build and work on!

Yes absolutely, for example once I tried the stone blocks in the 1/6 scale I knew I would be using the treatment on the 1:12 scale. And its hard to settle for so-so windows after having success making the Gothic windows for the 1/6 scale.

Yeah, I wondered if you would be happy with the 1/12th scale windows after those over the top windows in your other house. I think you got spoiled because in the other house you made so many custom made things like windows and bannisters, that it's going to be hard to settle for anything less in this house.

Getting as much detail in a lot of 1/12th the stuff is going to be a lot more difficult too, because it's only half as big.

There is no staircase in this house because originally it was a shallow wall hanging with the narrowest rooms only being about 6 inches deep, less than that even in some areas where the house cuts back in.
