Faux stone block progress

Debora59

I made it to the center!  blocks are still drying and sometimes corners or sides start to lift.

I ordered some trim pieces that I am adding on top of the mat board window frames. I am not as good as Mike at cutting mat board but maybe I will get there, so don't look too close at my test pieces, the wood trim I ordered will even any imperfections out.

I am adding glass and grids to the outside of each window since the ledge is already around the window, it was much more difficult  involved doing this from the interior. The glass reflects and takes away from the curved topline of the windows. So I feel I must build that piece for each window and sandwich in the glass and grids. I may even be able to cut the piece out of mat board.
Still figuring it out the details, but working on custom a window design and continuing with the exterior blockwork.

Incredible - absolutely amazing - Great Work!!!

Thank you, When my Dad helped me pick this house up in St Paul MN. it was just a stripped down shell. He even said when he laid eyes on it I don't know what you want with this, you must be able to see something I cannot see. What I saw was the inspiration photo I posted at the beginning of this album, when I posted that photo and my intentions, I had not yet seen the ad for this house. It seemed meant to be.

It's a wonderful Mansion - I like the Downton Abbey  flare - as i was huge Downton fan -- I also like that it was a scratch house - not from a kit - I would like to design and build one from scratch (after a lot of research of course) - getting the scale right is the key i think. Like your house here you need higher ceilings to do something grand...

I certainly will be reaching out to you when i get in the design phase.
