MommymakesStuff
So, I am building the primrose for my daughter's bday. And so far she had thought I was just building a house. The other day when I posted pictures of the progress she noticed I wrote something about alice living there. She said "Oh, is that who you are building it for?" "Do I get it before my birthday or after?" MAn I was so sad. No suprise left in that one. Oh well she is getting older I guess I can't expect her to believe in the birthday fairy anymore. I used to put her presents on the porch and ring the door bell. Then I would open the door and tell her someone left a package for her. She would get the present and in it would be a letter from the birthday fairy. Awww... I hate that she is growing up...boo hoo
KathieB
Hey ... little girls never grow up. We had a tradition in our family. On birthdays the "birthday fairy" would leave a gift for us in the middle of the living room floor during the night, so it was the first gift of the day, even before breakfast! When I went away to college, my mom sent a birthday fairy gift to the dorm director, who sneaked it into my room while I was at breakfast. I can't begin to tell you how much that homesick girl treasured her surprise. I have no recall of what was in the box; it didn't matter. That was 47 years ago. The memory still gives me a very mellow feeling. Don't give up on tradition.
justmesue
Knowing about a B-Day present may take away the element of surprise, but it sure doesn't take away the anticipation to play with the gift! Do not feel bad!
