The Fretwork is made of a chinese fan ($1 or $2 US) and cut as desired. The staircase is simple! i bought the spindles on ebay from a (now) good friend of mine Diminutivespecialties ask her if she has more! i dont use toothpicks. Then i cut the steps from veryy thin balsa wood (only use high quality, SIG works great)for the top and medium balsa wood for the base, between these two "layers" i put parts of the fan. The support (dowel) cames from a sweet cotton candy (here in Mexico cotton cady is sold on wood dowels) and just add a little rope and voila! Hope this works for all of you.
