Inge
I spent a full day trying to figure out how to install crown moulding. I found Holly's instructions very confusing (sorry Holly). I found this on the mini blog which was EXTREMELY helpful http://www.ViteKmoldings.com and then I went on youTube so I could "see" how it was done with a miter box ( I have the Miter-rite) and I found a guy showing how it was done in a real house (not miniature)...just by watching him, it "clicked". Just remember to mark your moulding for which is against the wall and which is against the ceiling and place the wall side against the "fence" when ready to cut. http://www.youTube.com/watch?v=mRwuONmNQEg Hope this saves someone else from hours of frustration.
havanaholly
""This Old House" has wonderful episodes discussing RL features like making replacement doors, windows, stairs, crown moldings and baseboards, ceiling roses, fireplaces and chimneybreasts and all sorts of wonderful info adaptable to mini! Thanks for the video.
Inge
Hi: Thanks for the tip of "This Old House", I'll check it out when I get a minute.
sparklepuppies
Also, once you get it figured out, make yourself an outside corner and inside corner test piece. That way, when you do your next house, you don't have to try and remember it all again! Just look at your samples.
Inge
Great idea about keeping the test pieces. Are you kidding about "my next house"? I may be in a seniors home at the rate I'm going with my Harrison. Just kidding. Thanks for the info.l
