dollshousegirl
I have added two new pictures in my album http://www.greenleafdollhouses.com/forum/i...album&album=119 you can also see many more by clicking on the link to my miniatures in my sig. my two questions I have are 1. my carpet in the glencroft ! it look way too new how do I make it look old, or at least fit in with it's surroundings better, age it ! tone it down whatever. 2. my fire surround, should I leave it as it is, it is cream and gold (sutiably shabby chic) or paint in black and pick out the details in gold
madhatter
wow the house looks amazing. Id love to build it someday. You could maybe try staining the rug with tea. I also think the fireplace would look nice black, or you could just dirty it up a bit with suit and such. Keep posting pictures, it's so much fun to look at. havanaholly
Your fireplace surround looks great in the colors it's in, and the rug is lovely. If you want to tone down the rug, try steeping it in strong tea. I think if you wash your walls with diluted burnt siena or ochre (do a test-piece first) you might want to leave the surround & rug just as they are. Cuppa-Tea
I like the tea idea for the rug. Have you seen that commercial where the mom is trying to "age" a teddy bear so that it looks like the one her daughter lost? She washes the car with it, then drives over it a few times. You might want to try that if the tea thing doesn't age it suitably enough. ;) I like the fireplace surround as is. I think black and gold would be too formal for this setting. But, I also like the idea of adding some soot to it. Your house is truly beautiful!!! I'm so impressed! ;)
