Timber grid - filler pieces

otterine

I took the original kit filler pieces and played jigsaw puzzle. Some pieces fit perfectly, so I popped those in place. From the leftovers, I sanded them to fit or cut them if more wood needed to be removed than sandpaper would efficiently do. I numbered them on the back to keep track. Since I had new and altered sections, I cut new filler pieces from 1/4" thick plywood scraps from my stash for those openings.

OK so I'm officially confused now. The large board in the other photo - is that becoming the interior wall? All the small rectangles in this view - these are only visible on the exterior? I thought I remembered the gridlines showing on Blondies interior photo shots. Sorry to sound stupid but I'm missing something.

Not at all. :D If you assemble according to the kit instructions, you build the front wall from the grid and the filler pieces. You would indeed see the grid on the interior as well. I am choosing to use a backer board since I am changing the layout from the original and want a smooth surface on the interior.

Ah ... so perhaps my head isn't as fuzzy as I was worrying it might be. Thanks for the explanation. Am watching you both and taking careful notes.

It's always nice to have that "team" feel, even though everyone has their own ways and ideas of how things should look and be done. Sharing ideas and tricks of the trade is the special thing about this GL family.
