I officially DO NOT like speed shingles.... :(

kellyannmo

I am having the worst time getting them to stay flat..... speed shingles is not the right word for them I don't think.... I am resorting to laying one row.... taping the heck out of them while the glue dries, then moving on to the next row... and even then I am having some bucking.... BUT I LOVE the diamond shape for this house.....

(I have tried tacky glue... hot glue and a combo of both... any tips are welcomed)

That is so disappointing! :( My diamond speed shingles on the full scale Rosedale went on quickly and didn't curl at all. I bet the smaller size is contributing to the problem. I'm sorry it's been frustrating for you. HUG.

I ran into this with the Rosedale and ended up tearing them off. But I thought I was just using too much glue. Check Emilys blog. She seems to have overcome the problems. Sigh.

they are VERY thin..... :( I'm sure because of the 1/2 scale... they are gorgeous though.... I will prevail... but they are going on slower than individual shingles... sigh

Thanks Debora.... I just read Emily's Blog on the shingles... I am taking a chance and I am going to stain last.... keep your fingers crossed... it is an oil based stain so hopefully I won't have too much problem.... otherwise I am basically doing what she did.... I glue down two rows and then tape the heck outa them and wait for the glue to dry... I am finding Aleen's Fast Grab Tacky Glue is drying faster... it's a slow process.... I am pretty quick with the individual shingles...

I used Quick Grip on the half scale ones for the Heritage gables. I still had to tape them row by row to dry, and it was stinky glue, but it worked well for me.
