Debora59 2,608 Posted December 12, 2012 This is an awesome creation, how did you make or what did you use for all your wonderful railing? Very Creative! Quote Link to comment
Dalesq 4,664 Posted December 13, 2012 I like it too and want to know what the rails and gate are made from. I really like your brickwork. Quote Link to comment
brandan 96 Posted December 13, 2012 The railings are my own design actually . Thank you so much !! the bricks nearly killed me ! I met a laser cutter who was looking for work, I came back from New Orleans and gave him pictures and together this is what we decided on, a cross of a few things I saw there. 1 Quote Link to comment

SQUEAKY 354 Posted December 13, 2012 Love it, always wanted to do a New Orleans house but couldn't find the ornate railing. Quote Link to comment
brandan 96 Posted December 13, 2012 There are other forms of railing to use, like the plastic fencing from hobby builders, you just cut off the little spikes. It's getting there but discovered last night that the plastic slate roof is too small but two pieces together look crappy with the seam !! dang it ! tonight is hand shingling and painting to look like slate, hope it works Quote Link to comment
brandan 96 Posted December 13, 2012 Oh and for cost the railings are cut out of mat board, wood was too expensive and mat board kept it under 50.00, money always tight lol Quote Link to comment
havanaholly 11,900 Posted December 13, 2012 Awesome matboard cutting! Who knew? Quote Link to comment
Blondie 2,579 Posted December 14, 2012 I can't believe you cut all of that out! I am amazed. *bowing down before you* Quote Link to comment
brandan 96 Posted December 14, 2012 It's actually really cool, you create a design and plug away into the computer the coordinates if each little swirl and then the laser cuts away . It's more compicated than that I'm sure lol but I just design lol. I can't operate machines lol Quote Link to comment
MissElle 56 Posted December 16, 2012 Beautiful work! I love that rail work. I never would have guessd it was matboard. I too have been wanting to do a New Orleans house. I like that style. The closest I have gotten is one room in my DH has a New Orleans feel. Your house is a real inspiration! Thanks for sharing! Quote Link to comment
brandan 96 Posted December 17, 2012 Thank you so very much ! If anyone wants the number of my laser guy I would be happy to share, He is an unemployed NASA guy that needed a push in the right direction, he's super kind and not terribly expensive ! Quote Link to comment
