Shale Rock Section

Bogie

I did river rock on "Spinner's End." I wanted to do something different. So I'm playing with crazy brick and shale rock.

This is great!! I loved your first picture of this and can't wait to see more!!! What are you using for the foam part? How do you sculpt (or cut) it? Love these rocks. They are great!!!!

I use contractor's foam which you can get at home depot. It has foil on both side which you have to peel off. For rough cuts I use a steak knife and for cleaner cuts I use a large bread knife (smaller serrated teeth.)

Tinker's Tower is going to be more complicated. It has an arched front bay window, hammerbeam timber roof, and some complicated corbels which I need to sculpt. I also need to learn a little bit more about engineering so that the supports I put under the tower will "look" like they could really hold up a stone tower. Tinkers also has a lot more landscaping to it. Lot's of plants to make which I also still need to learn. I am using Butterfly Island to learn a lot of the skills I will need to build Tinker's.

I am so jealous. Your house is the perfect blend of creative fantasy yet real enough features that it could be an actual house. Or at the very least, part of the scenery at Disney World.

One of the most frequent questions I get about my houses is "which kit is that"? Your masterpiece definitely won't be mistaken for something that came in a box. Well done.
