Option 2

pdlnpeabody

This version would make the windows asymetrical, with the window on the left wider. It will add an inch or two, making room for a dresser or other furniture, but I fear it will make the room look unbalanced. I haven't furnished a house, so I have no idea if this would be a headache for the owner or not.

Asymmetrical structure is obvious only when a room is unfurnished, and even at that, it isn't always a bad thing. Maybe pick up a cheap mini furnishings lot sometime (either craigslist or Hobby Lobby when they have their 50% off sales) so you can "stage" a room as you're working on things. Neither of these choices seems better than the other.

Very true! One option is symetrical, but looks cramped, although the room is bigger than the master bedroom where I live now. This way looks lop-sided, but maybe not so much after its furnished. I have a cheap furniture set, but I don't think it's true 1/12 scale. The pieces barely fit in the room.
