Black bedroom

otterine

I finished padding the wall and angled ceiling in the bedroom, spackled over the few gaps and ends to even out the surfaces, glued in the new bedroom wall and primed the whole room with black paint since the wallpaper is dark. The wallpaper is actually a shade lighter than this black paint, but it helps to see what the room will look like with the dark walls and lighter accents. I will be installing a wood floor, but I am planning to stain it darker than this unfinished walnut scrap.

I propped up the door and trims painted Vintage White by Folk Art before adding the furnishings. I've borrowed the dresser from Baslow Ranch to test for size. I think all of the furniture should be lighter in color, otherwise it will get lost in the dim room.

I am planning two wall sconces by the bed, the vanity lamp and a ceiling fixture. The ceiling will be bright white, which will also help illuminate the furnishings. I might also add a lamp by the comfy chair (still to be acquired) and/or a table lamp for the dresser. It might seem like a lot, but this room is dark, and I have five lights in the dark parlor as well as the lighted coals in the fireplace.

You never cease to amaze me with your creations. Another perfect bed and you must have a hot line to the fabric store, love it! Did you make the bed frame yourself? Man I love this style! I can never find anything that looks this good online.

I worry about the old ladys walker, is it to late to pad the floor. also what about a chair left. Sorry I fell down yesterday. Two many(I only have 2)cats.

Thank you! Actually, the pink bedding came with the bed, but I made the pillows. I repainted the bed from its original mahogany finish. I plan to use something other than the pink fabric since, though it doesn't look bad, I think it is a little too big for scale.

As for the door, there will be steps. :D And, in my mini world, grandma is agile and in no need of a walker or lift.
