Bud's summer haircut

Summer isn't kind to Ol Bud. He has a thyroid condition now, and overheats easily. So we shave him down to his bald, itchy hide. He doesn't love getting his haircut, but he loves being nearly naked. Since we found out he has thyroid issues, we've put him on a diet..and he's gone from 110+ pounds, to a svelte 95, and he's still losing. The vet says he should weigh in at about 80 pounds.

He hates his diet (the dog, not the vet) but he feels so much better. His joints are bad, so the lost weight is a blessing. He now has a more youthful dog's spring in his step, and bathing his scaly skin is much less work.

Bud is a sweetie! It's hard when they're miserable. Our Rusty starts panting when it's 70 degrees. No thyroid problems, just likes to eat anything he can get his mouth on. He's gone from 122 to 97 pounds. Unfortunately the only thing that works is the prescription dog food. Janet
