Building the Porch

While waiting for paint and glue to dry, I went ahead and put together the upstairs balcony railing. To be honest, I'm not crazy about the fact that there's a balcony but no door (and I didn't want a door in my kitchen) and that although there are porch posts downstairs, there's no railing (even though there's the real life equivalent of a 1ft drop). I may end up scrapping this assembly and doing something of my own creation.

Princess Anne

I know what you mean. I don't like these houses with awesome double-deck porches, but no access! <_<

I am doing a Princess Anne as well, and considered removing the second floor porch and just making a 'normal' porch roof and adding railings. However, since this is for a client, I'm not going to go to all that extra work for what she paid for it at the benefit auction.

I could still get out my Dremel and cut a door out of one of the windows upstairs but really didn't want a door in my 2nd story kitchen. I think it bothers me more that all that fancy railing is upstairs with nothing downstairs. If I use rails on both, it won't be as bad.
