I definately like the octagonal over straight for this house and think the unique color of the "gray" is a bonus (since you have quite a bit of blue inside the house). Of all the shingles (you didn't picture them here), my favorite color is the rusty-brown, especially in houses of cream or yellow.

But I hate to be the one to throw a wrench in this... given the magnificence of this house, are you sure you want to use asphalt shingles? It just screams slate, metal, or weathered copper to me.
