Realife Miniatures Dining Room Set
The doors and drawer fronts are glued in place and several layers of trim have been added. It is this attention to detail that gives the items in this kit a very realistic touch. The "marble" top is a piece of a real life vinyl tile. I was a bit skeptical when it was a blank, but after beveling the edges (combination utility knife and sandpaper) and fitting it in place, I'm quite happy with it.
The bits at the bottom of the photo will become part of the lower shelf. I've found my set of tiny files to be useful for shaping the many curved elements.
Do you see a light spot on the door to the left and another on the backing board on the table? The stain did not take in those places, even with multiple coats. I'm going to finish staining all of the pieces so as to find any similar spots, then plan to touch them up with craft paint before giving all of the pieces a couple coats of clear satin finish polyacrylic.
