Draping

This is my Marie Antoinette style doll. Took me two days to figure out a way to do the panniers (hip extensions) but I did it! Lol

Looks like it is coming good, there are some interesting pins on panniers, but you have to be searching on Pintrest UK to get the good ones!  I found a tutorial on panniers a while ago that was interesting.  It was for a BJD to make a Marie Antoinette Style shepherdess. here   The funniest part of the article was the author wondering who looked at a donkey with panniers and decided it was a good look!

I'll take a look Barb thanks! I've looked at a lot of images, had to use trial and error even tho I had a pattern it was a disaster so I did my own thing. It's hard following patterns for a Georgian dress because everyone's idea of how wide those panniers and skirts should be is different. I didn't want them to be the super exaggerated ones, but her hair I do want really high :) yes, true so funny how anyone thought that up lol

Nell, ditto, I've always had a thing for studying her, such an interesting period in history and hers is such a sad story.

Just looked..I had seen that one and saved it, good info. Our scale is so small it's almost not necessary to get that elaborate. But I do want to try that one someday.  I used wires and double bonded fabric and finished it off in a presentable way so if my sister ever turns her upside down to look (and she will) it looks good.

Yes it is necessary to simplify a lot but it was a beginning, at the time I was doing panniers for an AGD and did not get as involved as that one did but they came out nice.  I do think panniers look a lot better on a doll that has a figure which AGD do not, that is the challenge with sewing for them, hide the neck ridge and deal with the little girl figure.
