I changed out the lamp in the living room.  The lamp pole is made from some square conduit I picked up at Berkeley Ace Hardware, the base is strip wood covered in silver origami paper (because I needed to be able to drill and notch), and the shade is light-weight card stock.  I used a ¾” clear vinyl furniture bumper (I think it was called) to support the shade.  It was easy to use my leather punch to punch a small hole in the middle for the wires to fit through.  I think it’s a definite improvement on the old lamp.  This of course does not preclude my getting another lamp (working or not).

Your corner chair is so well placed and the style you chose is so right in this room.  Having lived through 70's design I never really cared for it until  I worked on my Lundby.
