The plans for the Merrimack call for an open staircase from the second to the third floor.  I have not been able to find a pre-built, open staircase for half scale.  I had bought a G scale open staircase, but it was too wide for the little opening.  So I used it to help create a template for making my own.  To keep it from looking too much like a ladder, I “carpeted” the stairs with the same mushroom suede paper I used for the hall floor.  (That’s getting redone, as I’m not happy with the way it looks.)
