I changed out the lamp in the living room. The lamp pole is made from some square conduit I picked up at Berkeley Ace Hardware, the base is strip wood covered in silver origami paper (because I needed to be able to drill and notch), and the shade is light-weight card stock. I used a ¾” clear vinyl furniture bumper (I think it was called) to support the shade. It was easy to use my leather punch to punch a small hole in the middle for the wires to fit through. I think it’s a definite improvement on the old lamp. This of course does not preclude my getting another lamp (working or not). Here it is lit.
