Haha.. yes it's all my fault... and I'm glad too!

 

I like your style Miranda.  Love the shape of this, particularly it's low back and low slung look. Fabric choice is great too. I've decided I'm going to have white sofas in my San Franciscan.

I don't know what your using for padding but your seat looks a little lumpy.. which I kind of like because it looks like a couch with down filling instead of foam..

However if you wanted a cleaner look, I've heard of people using kitchen sponges as the padding for seat cushions.

I think the only thing I think I would clean up on these if they were mine, is the covers on the front of the arms. When I did my couch I covered the front of the arms first trying to keep the weave of the fabric as vertical & straight as possible (meanwhile.. look at this cheap thing. The arm dowels were different sizes.. lol).....

 

and then wrapped them with the folded edge of the side arm fabric. It just cleans up that difficult area. 

 

 

I can't really make out what you used for legs but they look like they have a really nice professional shape. Inquiring minds want to know!

Such a great first attempt though. I really love the style a lot. I see lots of fantastic modern furniture in your future.

Ooh! Thanks for this. I have a loveseat and a chair to make so I will do the arms this way next time. It's a learning process for sure! I was trying to get the skeleton together first but I now know it's better to build and finish in bits.

That couch cushion is DEFINITELY a tester lol. I was too lazy to make a real one but I will before the house is done. Since I made this myself and used stash materials I dropped a whopping $2 on this couch so if I have to spring for a sponge I think it will be ok ;)

the padding in the seat is left over thinsulate from when I made my Wrath of Khan inspired winter coat. It's actually great stuff because it's fluffy padding on one side and a cloth like layer on the other. A bit tough to sew through but great for stuff like this. There is added lumpiness from me having to rip off said thinsulate and reapply it in various places while trying to figure out how to put this together so it's probably just as well that it will live upstairs. It can be the old comfy couch she just couldn't part with. I'll make the chair and loveseat a bit nicer

the legs are metal filigree bead spacers. I'll have to take a photo of them later.
