second-floor-staircase-shell

Debora59

The second floor staircase shell had some tricky spots, I had to make the partial ledge around the first floor ceiling rise to the same thickness as the partial ceiling sheet of wood. The base of the second floor wall has another ledge piece that can rest on the first floor ledge, it  must match up perfectly to the 2nd floor hallway flooring piece, because the shell is another room box that stacks over the first. Gosh I hope that makes sense, I have been cutting painting and fitting of and on most of the day.

It looks great.  I've been trying to engineer the stacked rooms for my project.  Since I'm still working on the first floor, most of the concept is still on the drawing board.  Seeing your construction is really helpful.  Thank you!

Thank you. I am going to cut a strip of the hallway flooring for the balusters to be attached to, this strip will be permanently attached to the 1st floor room box. This way when you take the rooms apart the staircase remains all one piece with the first floor,
