Making window casings

Debora59

There are 44 individual window casings, which will make 2 more bay windows and one single window. I have made about 100 prior to this group. Since I had to make new rubber molds for the windows.  I also made a rubber mold for the doorway caps.  The caps take a lot of casting material but they are such a pain to make individually its worth it. Everything except the dark window casings needs cleaned / sanded and painted.

Thank you Mike, the windows are still so exciting to me, even after making so many. I am so motivated to see the entire structure, and yet I am ok with the time it takes. That's not like me to have such patience, so this house has changed me a bit.

I'm with you on the patience part -- miniatures gave me that, too!  Excellent work churning out the pieces.  :D  It will all be worth it.

These are gorgeous!  I've never made castings, but one of the ladies in our mini club is going to teach us next week!

Thank you, that will be exciting! This group represents about 2.5 boxes of liquid plastic casting materials, parts of 3 days casting and sanding, more sanding and painting yet to come

These windows are going to be simply stunning!  Did you make your own molds or purchase them somewhere?  I have lots of molds that I use in my cake decorating world...guess I never figured about using the same type of mold for my miniature world!

Wow! I am speechless. I have been off line for 2 to 3 weeks as my computer needed a new hard drive and look at all I have missed.

You certainly have achieved a milestone.

OH MY!  This is all so incredible.  I just read that you made your own molds to form the window casings?  I didn't know people could DO that.  Every little detail here is so wonderful!  I think I need to start watching more tutorials!  The staircases - incredible.  This would be so fun to see in person.

Thank you so much! The Smooth On Mold making kits can make perfect molds of what ever you like. I personally have only chosen to make molds of items with a flat back. Although the instructional DVD shows how to do all kinds of things.
