Various beds for houses

sage minis

The two red beds are for the Red Rooster Inn.  Other beds are in A chalet, several for the Yellow Victorian, and  one forZeta's Deco House.  I used vintage handkerchiefs and  lace and current fabrics for the bedding.

Thank you. In The Red Rooster Inn - I chose to  use clear red in a very prominent way.  There ware rooster pics, rooster motifs on cornice boxes and rooster statues on the porch.  The red gingham dust ruffled bed even has a Rooster pic headboard.  It all started when I found a mini plaque that said Red Rooster Inn. I RL i'm not into theme oriented decor.  But in minis I enjoy being a bit silly.

For some reason I thought you were new to miniatures but it seems like you've been building many dollhouses.   It is a great escape from reality.   I find such solace and the right side of my brain is in overdrive with all sorts of creative ideas.   This will be my only dollhouse but it sure is a fun adventure.

Just for fun I did google search of Red Rooster Inn. Boy are there a ton of them in RL!!  It would be fun to look at them all and see how the decors differ.

I never thought of doing something like that.  Will be a kick to look at decors - especially if in vintage inns or homes.  I'lll have to check them out.  I love looking at different decor styles - especially in historic homes and such.  When we travel - we usually check out some of  the home tours that my be offered.  Kitchens - esp. have some fascinating  utinsels and appliances in them.   Of course modern kitchens are generally so much more spacious and efficient - thank goodnes as I do the bulk of the cooking.   In general I like vintage architecture best even though every house I've lived in was built in athe 50's or later.

Just looked at the Red Rooster Inn listings and sure enough most were in converted vintage houses.  Most did not mention how the name came to be.

Creamcheese - I just noticed your comment about my  being new to dollhouses.  All that I am slowly uploading onto my album site has been created since Spring 2014. Finding a little Sweetheart cottage that needed to be totally redone - jumpstarted all that followed. Since  only 1 of my builds has been from the box kit - I usually start with already constructed houses that need rehabbing and decorating.  I have gone a bit crazy and know at some point I need to start selling or donating.  I just get such immense pleasure out of the whole process.  I've always loved crafting from recycled bits and this is even better.

Thanks for the information and explaining your creative dollhouse timeframe.   You have been very busy in just such a short time.   The miniatures you are making are so lovely they would make others very happy to be able to receive them.   It would be difficult though to either sell or donate some of those very special family heirlooms that you use in your bedding.   If you do you could always include a card with where the heirloom originated from; that would make it even more special to the person who was lucky enough to receive it and a way to remember your family member who had it and gave it to you!    Could you imagine if we were neighbors how fun that would be?   Keep on dreaming!

What lovely advice you gave about the heirlooms.  Just perfect really.  If we were neighbors - it would be so absolutely cool.  I'm very lucky in that one of my friends is into dollhouses.  She is not as obsessed as I am - but we go hunting for bits together which is so fun.   We also have found 2 good dollhouse show/sales in the greater Seattle area that come once a year.  One is coming in October - yea!

I'm glad I gave you an idea should you decide to sell or donate your handmade things.   Another thought is that you could sign and date your beds or any other miniatures you build so that it will be a treasured keepsake and the owner will know the artist (you!) that created the piece.   Just some things I thought I would share with you!    My friends all love what I am doing but no one really is into miniatures like I am.   They admire what I am creating but most seem not to have the patience or steady hands to work in such a small scale nor do they have the art background or interest in art and crafts as I do.  Too bad because it's a wonderful world.   You are so lucky to have a friend nearby who shares your interest.   The upcoming Seattle shows sound like great venues.   You must be near the Seattle area then?

I live about an hour and a half from Seattle - in good traffic.  I had signed the bottom of several of the beds - will have to sign all of them.  Never thought to signing my other pieces - good idea.

I get the same reaction from my non mini friends.  One refers to it all as my playing with dolls - but loves my Mad Hatter House.  I read somewhere that doing some things you loved as a child is very good for your spirit.  I always loved dolls and would lie in bed at night and dream of doll and fairy villages.  (I was very into fairy tales).

You mentioned that you have ans art background - in what area?

My family was always very artistic so I grew up in that environment.   I mostly have been involved in drawing, painting (watercolors & acrylics) and many crafts.   I also love to cook and bake which some consider an art form as well!    And now my dollhouse decorating is in many ways a reflection of my real life house.   As you said the things one does early in life is very good for the spirit!
