These are the floor coverings for two of the floors. At first glance I thought they were pieces of RL linoleum, but they are light cardstock / heavy paper, with a shiny surface; 12" long by 8" wide.

Wonder if these floor pieces might be from gift box covers? They used to come with lovely designs and patterns. If this is the time/vintage you think it is, then modern cardstocks wouldn't have been readily available at that time but a gift box might have been available for recycling for this purpose.

Good idea, Selkie. It fits the floor perfectly, without leftover space or trimming. I've got a call out on the NAME FB page to see if anyone recognizes the era something like this would come from. Maybe the cover of a paperdoll book?

Oh wow, Selkie good thinking! What if the gifts boxes came from the Hindle department store like the crates did? Maybe this house was made by someone who worked there? Reading the posts about this dollhouse remind me so much of a tv show I used to watch, "If Walks Could Talk"

I've been thinking that, too, Cathy - that someone who worked at the store, maybe in the shipping department, took some boxes home for this purpose. As near as I can tell, the boxes were new when first used. There are no scuff marks, no nicks or splinters, so sign of having been kicked around in a train boxcar or anything like that.   And yes, I do wish this house could talk!!
