Beacon Hill first floor staircase - modified

I used wide popsicle sticks (tongue depressors) to cut the gingerbread balusters from, and used thin molding from Hobby Lobby for the railing. Newell posts are made from square dowels, wooden beads and matboard.

How did you cut out the balusters on the wide sticks? With an X-acto knife??  My thumbs hurts just thinking about it!  LOL

Beautiful.  I am just in awe!  I am just now working on the staircase for the Beacon Hill.  I have no idea how you cut those balusters.  What kind of saw do you have?
