Creamcheese

This is my favorite room! I had to add a few more bricks and mortar and added a bit of wood to fill in some gaps. The kitchen bay took some time to make it fit since I changed out all the windows to larger ones but it really looks very inviting and lets in more light.

The kitchen floor was made with individual miniature bricks that I laid down one at a time in the basket weave pattern. I drew pencil lines on the floor first and then used emory boards as my spacers to make sure I kept the bricks straight. It took a bit of time to do this as I glued each individual brick down with white glue first; then I sprayed a clear sealer on everything, let it dry overnight and then used mortar. The floor looks very realistic and was worth the time it took to make it. The bricks can be cut with an Xacto knife if you need to fit them in some tight spaces. The bricks I used are the "used bricks". I probably answered back with more info that you asked for but I hope it helps. The look is so authentic looking. I used the same bricks when I made my 2 fireplaces and the chimney. I plan on making a small brick front porch too. I think I am going brick crazy!
