I'm wondering if the siding is too light to fit with the rest of the color scheme

Ummmmm hard to tell. Sometimes cameras/computers change colours a fair bit, but I think a darker shade would look a little less stark. The timber is a warm colour as well as darkish, and I kinda think maybe a pink a shade or two darker may look good. You could paint a sheet of card and hold it up against the timber so you dont have to paint the actual house until you are sure.

Thank you both for the honest feedback! After staring at it for the past few days, I came to the same conclusion. At least I've only done this one side, thus far. I think it should be painted a darker pink with perhaps a bit of purple in it.

I suppose that's one of the downsides of re-using leftover materials we have sitting around the house - sometimes things just aren't a good fit. I think my little one and I will have to stop at our local paint store later today and pick up some color swatches and see what looks good against the house.
