Bedroom with window seat
I've spent the majority of the past two days in air-conditioning working on the bedding, etc. for the shabby chic room. I don't remember if I've mentioned that Gloria's house is confined to the garage until I have all the really messy reconstruction work completed. Like getting the roof on, the third floor exterior painted, or any staining or sealing wood. (Two more weeks, I promise!).
So, while waiting for some supplies to arrive, and because it's Africa hot here in August, and mainly because I couldn't even think about anything else, I worked on bedding.
I have a collection of men's handkerchiefs, most of which belonged to my father. He was the father of four girls (and one son) and he ALWAYS had a soft, clean handkerchief in his pocket to wipe away a little girls' tears. With four daughters you can imagine how large a collection he had, although, once I was a married mom, there were a couple of times that I kept the handkerchief as a remembrance that my dad had been there, for me, at that time. Those, I will keep forever.
But, back to the men's handkerchiefs and how they make the most beautiful, soft bedding! I had really planned on some pink for this room, it is Gloria's favorite color. But, the white and pale olive just, well, turned their noses up at that! Maybe some pink in the artwork. And maybe, after Gloria sees this room, pink might not be the only favorite color.
