Shingle help please!

Hi all! I want to do a roof like the attached picture and was thinking of using hole punches and painted sand paper but I don’t have a small hexagon punch and can’t find one smaller than an inch. I’d like to avoid hand cutting if possible (too much work, too much room for variation). Any ideas? I have a bag of thin wood shingles and could try those. I could do a simpler design or different shapes but I just have my heart set on tiny hexagons :)

I don't believe those are truly hexagon. I think they would be just like any other rectangle shingle but the end is pointed so that when they overlap the exposed parts form hexagons. So just cut a rectangle, shape the end and overlap away. Samples below.

Oh wow!! I can use my bag of super thin wood shingles and make little hexagons by cutting them lengthwise. Best day ever!!! So glad I asked. Thanks again!!! Virtual hugs to you!!!

You are most welcome! Happy to help. Hugs received, thank you. Can't wait to see the roof.

I have seen fishscale shingles with angled bottoms rather than curved, which is what those look like on RL buildings.  When you alternate the overlap it gives the appearance of hexagons.

I think Greenleaf store has those in the speed shingles

The speed shingles is the first link in my original response to this thread.

Indeed they are. Your post didn’t mention Greenleaf store having them so I totally missed it. I just recently bought some of the hex shingles for a project I’m working on and I’m excited to try those. I’ve used straight ones before and loved it
