Minis On The Edge
This is important infor regarding the Chicago International show. The Location Has Changed!! Due to renovations and additions that the Hyatt Hotel-Schaumburg will be undergoing over the next two years it has become necessary for us to relocate our 2008 and 2009 Chicago International shows. The new location will be the Marriott-Chicago O'Hare. Please visit our web site at www.BishopShow.com for all of the information about this move and the Marriott hotel. We are truly sorry for any inconvenience this may cause some of you. We simply didn't have a choice. For those flying into O'Hare, we are now only ten minutes, two miles from the Marriott. Improvements offered to us by this move are that we have a little bit larger facility and all sales rooms are on one floor and across the hallway from each other. For those of you who are in the business, we have also moved the Wholesale Trade Show from the AmeriSuites so both the retail and wholesale shows will now be in the same hotel. Our mailing that was sent out in late October for the Chicago International reads that we will be in the Hyatt Hotel. This mailing is also a main part of the ad for the show which has already been printed and will appear in the February issue of Miniature Collector magazine. This is the large, 44 page group ad that comes out immediately after the first of the year. We have taken an additional full page ad immediately in front of this mailing/ad that will also show all of the information about our new location. We hope this will ease some of the confusion that is sure to follow. The following is from a postcard we mailed yesterday to everyone who has already received that first mailing mentioned above. There will be no other changes to the show. EVERYTHING ELSE ABOUT THE SHOW REMAINS THE SAME. The Hyatt Hotel in Schaumburg will begin renovations in January. They will not have the necessary sleeping and workshop rooms available for our event. We have found it necessary to move the show. The new location is only ten minutes from O'Hare Airport and is the Marriott Chicago OHare, 8535 W. Higgins Rd., Chicago, IL 60631. Telephone number: 800-228-9290 or 773-693-4444. Room rate, single or double - $119. The hotel provides a free shuttle service to and from O'Hare International Airport. Please call to cancel your reservations at the Hyatt (800-233-1234) and/or the AmeriSuites (847-330-1060) and re-book them at the Marriott. Ask for the Tom Bishop Miniature Show rate. You can visit the Marriott's web site at www.marriottohare.com Everything else remains the same except location.
uppitycats
I know that there are a couple of smaller shows that run at the same time...do you know if they have moved too? (And this is the April show, right?)
queenannediva
I got this info on Small Stuff Digest yesterday and immediately changed my hotel reservation from the Hyatt to the Marriott. But wondering how this is going to affect the shuttle that usually runs between the three shows in the Schaumburg area. Will there even be a third show - the Windy City Show - on the IMA show site they are only listing their show and the Bishop show. Minis On The Edge
I am not sure about the other shows. I got the email from them this morning pertaining only to their show. I thought the hotels were the ones that took care of the shuttle buses. I am not sure though.
queenannediva
Thelma Lewis DeMet, she runs the IMA show at Embassy Suites and the shuttle service between the three shows, answered my inquiry over at The Camp forum. She says her shuttle service will still be running between the new Bishop show location, her show and the Windy City show. Good news for those of us that fly in. Minis On The Edge
That's cool then for those who want to hit the other shows. I have not had the chance yet (I am always taking the classes at the Bishop show and then I am shopping until the end of it) Maybe this year I'll get to do the other shows. I always say I am ganna check them out but have not made the time to.
queenannediva
I highly recommend the IMA show at the Embassy Suites. It is, of course, much smaller than the Bishop show but there many outstanding and very well known artisans there. http://www.ima-show.com Valerie
