  1. Wow, geat replies! Thanks! I was hesitant about spending the money but knew if I didn't buy it, someone else would. The employee said that they just put it out that morning when I came in. I will be replaincing the wallpaper and flooring with more realistic ones. I am thinking about adding a basement which will make it even taller but you can never have a dollhouse too big
  2. Hi! Thanks all for your feedback so far. Hopefully, I will get more posts with information. I paid $49.99 for the house. A lot of money for me, but it seems to be a nice, solid quality. Besides, Goodwill is a nice cause. I shop consignment/resale as much as possible but never thought I'd find a dollhouse! To the previous poster in New Mexico...I know what you mean about being the only one in town who does miniatures...I live in an area where there are no miniaturists that I know of, so I do my mini-loving alone and enjoy reading this board to keep me company! 3. Hi all! I found this great dollhouse at my local Goodwill this morning. The panels open in the front. The house is quite large and split up into four pieces (base frame, first floor, middle floors and roof) which made transport pretty simple . It looks like it is made of out of some kind of smooth finish wood material or fiberboard? It reminds me of a Lilliput, but I could not find it anywhere during my Web search this morning. I was happy to find it as I love historic looking homes, this reminds me of a colonial period townhome. It needs a few simple repairs. Any info would be appriciated as to the maker or year it came out. If anyone has one, I'd love to see photos!
  4. I love my Thornhill and can't wait to get started. Now if I can finish my Queen Anne... :jawdrop:
  5. I bought one! Got an email from Dean this morning that it has shippped Those on this forum who have one have been sharing so many wonderful ideas! Not sure what I'll do with mine yet but I can't wait to receive it! Nikki
  6. Really neat! Maybe I should play the lottery this weekend?....
  7. I am a completely visual person. So in my instance, I assemble the shell, paint most of the exterior (excluding trim and delicate work) and THEN do the decorating inside (meaning flooring, wallpaper, ceiling, etc). Doing the shell and exterior painting first also helps me get a good 'feel' for what kind of mood I want the decorating inside to convey. I usually stain the stairs (but put them aside for permanent installation after everythign is done), put in the flooring and then do the wall paper and finally the ceiling. This is just what works for me. Of course, making this possible and not too challenging is the fact that most of the houses I work on are fairly large (right now the Real Good Toys Queen Anne) so the rooms are large enough to maneuver around in somewhat even though its assembled. Whichever way you chose, good luck!
  8. It looks wonderful! Thanks for sharing...
