roof top gazebo 2

M and D

This is only partially built to see the size and get a feel for how large it would appear. Detailed trim and gingerbread will be added to replicate the real house. (see photo of real gazebo)

What a good idea! Do you have a photo of the real house that shows the size relationship of the gazebo to the rest of the house? It may just be the angle of this photo, but here the gazebo seems to make the tower a bit top heavy. It's unclear how folks would get into the gazebo.

For the doll house I was thinking of a spiral stair up from the room below the gazebo. I will post a better pic of the real house. I am a bit concerned that the gazebo looks too big for the dollhouse.

Maybe if you beefed up/bulked up the turret area with some bigger/thicker trim boards, it wouldn't look so disproportionate. Your inspiration house turret gives a sturdier look under the gazebo.

I love what you're doing! From the photos, contributing to what appears as disproportionate, is that the gazebo open air space extends way past the top of the house roof and then there is the turret roof on top of that. Maybe the posts on the gazebo could be shortened.

I like it! I like Selkie's suggestion,as it does seem tall, but if you filled out the turret some,it would change the eye's perspective-is that the termonology?-and may be not look as tall. But overall, what a neat idea!!

I am going to play around with the roof to make it more like the real one. The one you see in the dollhouse pic is the one off the turret just sitting loose on the gazebo. I think making the roof slopes shallower and to a point rather than flat top will make it less bulky looking.

I like the idea but i agree that it seems to high and a tad bit too top heavy. maybe if the room below it was the actual gazebo it would look better but that would mean a lot of dismantling of your beautiful pierce. I really love how you finished the exterior.

Worst case is I end up having fun building a real cool gazebo that I can use in the display and I just put the existing turret roof back on where it was since it just lifts off anyway.

just the way it is...I grew up in a Victorian era built town and while it is not the norm to be out of portion .... Ive seen it done in a few old houses! they are my favorites!
