Slave Cabin Diorama

klaviergoddess

Super simple materials, all manageable by a fourth grader. Lots of cardboard, paint, glue, and popsicle sticks. Hope she gets an A+. We purposefully made the photos of the slave family larger than life in an effort to emphasize their humanity and importance. Tried to include a nod to the arching oaks and spanish moss so prevalent in front of the big plantation homes. The animals were her idea. Some slaves were allowed to keep animals for their own use, she correctly insisted.

It turned out beautifully! My husband the art professor says he'd nominate her for a high school art class based on the quality of her work. :thumb:
