New attic roof addition

otterine

When I added to the ceiling boards in the back, I effectively eliminated the sloped ceilings on the second floor, except at the outer side gables. The bathroom vanity cabinet, hall table vignette and bedroom door would not have been possible had I kept the angled back walls that followed the slope of the roof. However, when viewed from the side, these outcroppings are visible.

To remedy this problem, I've added a quick mockup cut from Cellfoam 88. This adds a triangular vertical wall that would be sided to match the house and an additional roof board to finish the back opening. I think this makes architectural sense since it is in the back portion of the house and a viable renovation that could have been done at some point. It won't be visible from the front, so it won't detract from the Carpenter Gothic aesthetic.

This is amazing...love the old, worn look of everything. Can I ask how you made the fish scale siding? I've been trying to figure out where to get smaller scales...like the size of popcycle sticks...and yours looks like it might be that size.

Thank you! :D Those are half scale speed shingles from Greenleaf - used on a full scale house, they worked better for the gable than the large ones included in the kit.

Great! I'm new to all of this, so thanks for pointing me toward the 1/2 scale scales!! It should be just what I'm looking for.
