I built a frame around the hearth to conceal the wood. I think this kit was sitting for about 20 years before the store decided to liquidate (got this kit for 20 bucks). Some of the sheets also smell of moth balls, I'm hoping that a coat of varathane will seal that horrid smell in.

If not set it in a big plastic garbage bag with some charcoal briquettes for a few days. Charcoal absorbs all kind of funky smells :lol:
