Foyer to kitchen pocket door - kitchen

otterine

I've wanted to try making a pocket door for some time now, and KathieB has a wonderful tutorial on her blog for working pocket door. I've started cutting the new wall boards, but mine will be two different heights. My parlor ceiling will be higher than the kit intended to accommodate the new taller front door and the Houseworks narrow stairs. The kitchen ceiling will be the original intended height since the bay window and the upstairs windows are based on this height. Each wall on either side of the pocket door will support it's own ceiling at the varying heights. Oh, that sounds so simple on paper. The pocket door will be hard to see in this room with Keli's fabulous Hoosier cabinet next to it. As you can see, there is just enough room for the Roper range, the Hoosier cabinet and the door.
