Rusty sette with saggy old cushions

otterine

For the seat cushion and pillow, I used some of the tea-stained fabric I had from the mattress for Baslow Ranch. The fabric actually comes printed this way. I made it similarly to the mattress in that I used millinery batting for the stuffing, two scant layers. Just enough to give the impression that it might have been comfortably plump at some point a long time ago. I knew Lyssa would never forgive me if I didn't have some stuffing sticking out in a couple of places! I glued the cushion to the settee so I could shape it and have it a little droopy in the front. The pillow has seed beads in it, though decidedly less than I normally use for stuffing, just to give it a sorry, sagging appearance. It's rather sad, no? Will someone please take grandma to the store for some better outdoor furniture?!!! :D

perfect..... it seems to me grandma rather likes her furniture :ohyeah: it looks well used .... great job (and what a cool idea to stuff the pillow with beads... how do you come up with this stuff... I am locking that idea away for possible use :flowers:)

Thanks! :flowers:

Many people talked about using sand for their pillows, but sand seemed too messy to me. I also had seed beads on hand the first time I tried it, and it works wonders for realism and keeping your pillows in place. They have more weight than you think they will and you can shape them as though someone has been leaning on them. :D

Grandma does love her critters! :giggle:
